“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”
― Lewis CarrollAlice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

Greetings and Salutations!  Welcome to the end of the third week in February!  Each week that goes by brings us closer to warmer weather (-17 degrees with wind chill here today).  So I hope you are sitting somewhere warm and sunny while you enjoy The Daily Frame blog circle.  Without further adieu here my week in rewind....

The Daily Frame | 50 of 365:

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.

~Khalil Gibran

"Big takes care of little." ~M & T O'Neill
Great friends of ours used to say this to their son when playing with our much younger son. It has always stayed with me because big should take care of's just that simple.

It should be celebrated." ~Osho

"You’ll learn, as you get older, that rules are made to be broken. Be bold enough to live life on your terms, and never, ever apologize for it. Go against the grain, refuse to conform, take the road less traveled instead of the well-beaten path. Laugh in the face of adversity, and leap before you look. Dance as though EVERYBODY is watching. March to the beat of your own drummer. And stubbornly refuse to fit in.” ~Mandy Hale

A new haircut from our Irish barber in the Bronx. She asked if she could spike his hair in front. I said, "Sure, why not." She asked if he could have spray. Again I said "Sure, why not." (LOL! I didn' t know it was color spray!)

Moments later. my little boy was transformed. I kinda love it!
He's a loving kid that has a rebellious side and loves to laugh more than anything in this world.

It's Westchester County meets Northern Ireland IRA ruffian. I prefer the ruffian. heart emoticon

The Daily Frame | 45 of 365 {sorry it's a long one}:

After a while you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning
And company doesn’t mean security,
And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts
And presents aren’t promises,
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes open
With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child,
And you learn to build all your roads on today,
Because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans,
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
That even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure...
That you really are strong,
And you really do have worth.
And you learn and learn...
With every goodbye you learn.

~Veronica A. Shoffstall

This is for all the broken hearted on Valentine's Day. It's so easy to get caught up in all the lovey dove mushy stuff when you are in love that it's easy to forget that not everyone has a heart so overflowing with joy on a day like today.

When my heart was first broken, my mom gave me this poem. (That was a really long time ago.) I am sure there is a copy of it all folded up at the bottom on my memory box. This image I took today isn't the best image I've ever taken or even original but when I saw it on the screen I immediately remembered the line "So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers." I had forgotten that is was a part of this poem. When I googled the line, this poem came up.

It's amazing that in the mere seconds that I looked at this image, so many emotions came rushing over me. One of them being that it is inevitable that some day, the hearts of my children will be broken. And I will rummage through the depths of my memory box and give them this poem as my Mom did so many years ago. So is it the happiest Valentine's Day message? No. But it's for all those who are hurting out there today. I hope this brings you some solace.
